Pakistan is an officially dry country, meaning no alcohol, but you can find a few clubs. Most clubs are private but some are operated by big hotels. Most club customers are wealthy foreigners. Karachi is the second-best place after Lahore to enjoy the night life of Pakistan. There are big shopping markets that remain open until midnight, and during the winter holidays shops don't close until 2 am.
The Karachi Port Trust has built the world's second largest water fountain in the sea in front of Clifton Beach. The fountain shoots sea water more than 600 feet in the air. At night, he whole fountain is lit up with huge white lights, and is visible all along the sea shore at Clifton Beach and Seaview.
Some interesting night spots in Karachi are Park Tower, Clifton, Schoen Circle, and Zamzama Street. These areas are generally considered to be very safe, and the areas in Defense and Seaview are particularly safe.
In recent years local music bands have really made their mark in Pakistan. One of the most popular bands in South Asia is Pakistan's Junoon. The band has a strong fan following in Lahore, where they like to perform regularly.
