The Royal Palace

The palace is a group of historical buildings at the center of the city resting on the bank of the Mekong river. The palace was built when Cambodia was still part of the French Colonial Empire. It is really a spectacular sight with many Buddha sculptures made of gold, silver, emeralds, and diamonds. Visit the beautiful tropical garden and the Silver Pagoda filled with golden Buddha sculptures. The floors of the Pagoda are covered in 5000 silver tiles that weigh over a kilo each.

Museums

The National Museum is the largest history museum in all of Cambodia. There is a small bar for refreshments before or after your tour. The exhibitions focus to preserve Cambodian treasures for the public by showcasing four types of archeological items: stone, metal, wood and ceramics. The museum also strives to preserve Cambodian tradition.

Historical Site

The Killing Fields is a mass grave yard and one of the most visited sights in all of Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge was a regime that briefly took power in the last half of the 1970s after a bloody civil war. Many people buried at this sight were educators, intellectuals, and political prisoners. 2 million people lost their lives to this tragic event.
