Macarons were invented in France by Italian chefs. Both macaroons and macarons start with a base of egg whites and sugar, but macaroons are made with shredded coconut and shaped into small mounds or balls. Macarons incorporate powdered sugar and ground almonds and are formed into tiny sandwiches with sweet fillings, often buttercreams or ganaches.

What is the difference between gelato and ice cream?

Gelato is heavy on milk, ice cream is heavy on cream!

Dieters, rejoice! Gelato has less fat than ice cream because it is made with more milk than cream and, unlike ice cream, usually doesn't include egg yolks. Gelato's dense, soft taste is the result of it being churned at a slower pace than ice cream, so it gains less air.

What is an Eton mess?
