Editor’s Note: Pineapple Fields Resort hosted the writer of this story.
Set on a serene and lushly landscaped property overlooking a quiet pink sand beach, Pineapple Fields Resort is the definition of a tropical paradise. The resort offers one- and two-bedroom condo-style rooms that combine the best aspects of a hotel and a vacation rental into a stay that’s both relaxing and practical.
The Location
The island of Eleuthera sprawls over 110 miles long, and it can take a few hours to drive from the north to the south. Pineapple Fields has a prime location right in the middle of the island, so you won’t be too far from any attractions—no matter if you’re headed down to Lighthouse Beach or up to Glass Window Bridge. The resort is practically next door to the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, so you’ll be within walking distance from one of the most popular things to do.
You won’t have to spend much (or any) time driving on Eleuthera—unless you want to—if you’re staying at Pineapple Fields. The property is just across the street from French Leave Beach (one of the best on the island), and Tippy’s Restaurant & Beach Bar (a popular spot for lunch, dinner, and live music).
The Property
Although there are only 32 units, Pineapple Fields encompasses a lot of land, so it will never feel crowded. The impeccably landscaped grounds offer walking trails among the palm trees, including one that will lead you up to a wooden tower that you can climb for 360-degree views of the surrounding area. Along the trails, you’ll spot signs of the resort’s working farm (which provides the ingredients for the fresh food at Tippy’s), and meet the property’s resident pigs.
An oversized pool with plenty of chairs provides a great alternative to the ocean on windy days.
The Rooms
The spacious rooms offer plenty of room for couples or families to spread out. The one-bedroom units have a king bed plus a pull-out sofa bed in the living room, and the two-bedroom suites have a total of four beds. All units have ceiling fans and air conditioners to keep things cool, along with front and back verandahs to relax on. Spring for one of the second-floor oceanfront units, which offer beautiful beach views.
In-unit washer/dryer combos mean you don’t have to pack too much for a trip here and can wash your sandy clothes before heading home.
As is the case for most island destinations, food on Eleuthera can be expensive, so the fully-equipped kitchens at Pineapple Fields can save you quite a bit of money. The kitchens have everything you’ll need to make meals, including a blender, pots, pans, etc.
Working from home? Change up your home office to something a little more scenic and book a few weeks at Pineapple Fields. The resort has impressively fast WiFi (that reaches out to the pool) along with plenty of comfortable spots to set up a laptop.
Dining
Right across the street, Tippy’s Restaurant & Beach Bar serves up lunch and dinner, and Pineapple Fields guests can charge their bill back to their room at the resort. The open-air restaurant attracts a mix of locals and visitors throughout the day and into the evening for happy hour frozen drinks, locally-sourced meals, and live music.
Price and How to Book:
Rooms start at $219 for a one-bedroom unit and $329 for two-bedroom units. Book directly on Pineapple Fields’ website.
