Pulau Batam Shopping
Some of the best shopping opportunities in all of Southeast Asia can be found in Indonesia. Pulau Batam is no different and provides some exceptional locations for shopping while visiting.
Batam City Square
The Batam City Square Mall is the largest mall in all of Batam. It has a total of six different floors of shopping. Every single floor has something different for you to check out, not to mention most of these floors also have restaurants as well. A large portion of the stores are local chains you probably have not heard of, but you’ll find a way to save money on goods here. If there is something you’re looking for and you can’t find it here, there is a chance you simply can’t find it anywhere else in Pulau Batam.
Golden Prawn Restaurant Souvenir Shop
The Golden Prawn Restaurant Complex is one of those tourist destinations you’ll eventually end up at. The souvenir shop part of the complex is a great spot to pick up not only gift items for the friends back home, there are all sorts of great snacks to purchase. You’ll find local takes on popular products here (such as potato chips in unique flavors). Best of all, most of the goodies you buy here are relatively inexpensive.
First First Factory Outlet
The name says it all. This is the very first factory outlet in the region. The store sells discounted (beyond the regular discount you find in Indonesia over stores in North America and Europe) items of top brands, including Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger and others. If you struggle to find smaller sizes back home, this is an excellent destination for you. Even if you don’t really want to purchase these big name brands that are available in the rest of the world, you can find exceptional local brands of shoes, bags, t-shirts, dresses and most other items you might want during your time in Pulau Batam.
Kampung Oleh-Oleh
This is another tourist shop, but the goods here are all handmade. You can pick up anything from small key chains, bags, and sarongs to beautifully carved wooden picture frames. Wood crafts out of Indonesia are some of the most desired in the world, so make sure to check this spot out.
