Punta Cana What to Pack
In preparation for a relaxing vacation on the white sand beaches of Punta Cana, you won’t need to pack much more than a swimsuit and flip flops. However, there are a few essential items that you will want to include.
Luggage
No matter what you have planned for your Punta Cana adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.
Clothing
Bring a carry-on with your swimsuit and sunscreen in case you arrive before check-in time. When packing clothes, it’s better to pack light. During the day, you won’t need more than a swimsuit and cover-up or shorts and a tank top. Don’t forget to bring sandals or flip-flops, too. Bring a few nicer outfits for dinners, but you can expect a lot of people to still dress casually. If you plan on going out at night at the many night clubs and bars in Punta Cana, bring appropriate clothes. You should also bring a poncho in case it rains, and water shoes if you plan on doing water sports or snorkeling.

Toiletries
Toiletries at stores or in the resort gift shop will be expensive, so bring band-aids, lip balm, pain killers, tampons, aloe vera gel, Pepto Bismol, Immodium, and any other medicine you might need. Since you are traveling to another country, plan on bringing medicine to counteract food poisoning and other maladies.

Pool Gear
If you plan on spending the day in the pool, consider buying blow-up pool floats before you go. You might also want large insulated cups for the swim-up bar if you plan on drinking. These will keep your drinks cold and the bartender won’t have to refill your drink as often. Books and games are also a great idea to pass the time on the beach or by the pool.
Camera
Plan on bringing extra batteries for your camera. It is also worth investing in a waterproof camera for excursions. Some people worry about their camera being stolen, but the resorts are generally safe and you will want to capture all of the memories you make on your vacation.
Electronics to Pack
Sunscreen and Mosquito Repellent
With the harsh sun, you will be at risk of sunburn even one meter under the water. Bring sunblock to avoid paying high prices at the resort gift shop. In case you do get burned, it is always good to have a bottle of aloe vera on hand. Don’t forget the mosquito repellent, too. Many grocery and convenience stores sell small OFF towelettes that will be handy to toss in your bag. You won’t regret having those handy while you are on an all-day excursion, far from your room, or even just relaxing down by the pool.
