Buy one, get one free?
Well, almost.
First, rent a car. Then pay for one hotel night and get the second night free.
Offer Details
This is a joint promotion from Enterprise and Holiday Inn, so the car rental requirement naturally calls for an Enterprise rental. The qualifying transaction must be booked via this link, be completed by August 30, and include an overnight. Be sure to make a note of your confirmation number as you will need it later.
Next, within 30 days of completing the car rental, go to http://www.activateaward.com/enterprise. There, enter your confirmation number to receive a special booking code to use when making hotel reservations, which must be made within two months of receiving the code. The award stay itself must be completed within four months of booking it or by December 31, whichever comes first.
The free night can be booked at participating Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties in the U.S. and Canada as the second night of a weekend stay, here defined as Thursday through Sunday nights. Bookings must be made at least 14 days in advance, using the Best Flexible rate for the paid night. Bookings are non-refundable—if you cancel, you lose your payment.
The offer’s landing page suggests you print it. I second that advice—you’ll have to read the rules and procedures several times.
Deal or No Deal
I almost passed on reviewing this offer—not because it lacked value, but because of its overcomplicated terms and conditions. I suspect that some travelers will be put off for the same reason.
For those who can slog through the fine print and wrangle with the offer’s requirements, this promotion could be a worthwhile one.
While I wouldn’t run out and rent a car from Enterprise just to get a free night from Holiday Inn, I’d consider taking advantage of the offer if there were any reason whatsoever to rent a car this summer.
The rate requirement for the paid night is slightly off-putting—Best Flexible rates are a bit higher than Holiday Inn’s best rates—but not a deal-breaker. And the weekend stay requirement isn’t particularly onerous, since it includes Thursday through Sunday nights.
Reader Reality Check
Am I the only one who finds this offer numbingly complicated?
When all the requirements and restrictions are factored in, is it worth the effort?
