Who said last-minute cruise deals were a thing of the past?

Carnival has just put out a press release touting its low prices and claims that some rates are up to 20 percent lower than in 2005. The cruise line confirms that even summer sailings are still cheap.

Short cruises (up to five nights) start at $229 per person, a great deal considering the price covers accommodations, meals, and entertainment. You can even find cruises that visit the new Grand Turk port from $349 for five nights or $449 for seven nights.

It’s no secret that summer Caribbean cruises aren’t selling as well this year as last year. But with prices like these, it’s almost worth booking a sailing during hurricane season and crossing your fingers. At best, you get a fabulous Caribbean vacation at a low price; at worst, your itinerary changes or starts or ends a little early or late. Just be sure your schedule is flexible and you take out travel insurance. With the money you’ve save on your cruise, you can certainly afford it.
