South Padre Island is an excellent alternative to Florida, or the Caribbean. It has beautiful sand beaches, warm clear waters with waves for body surfing or boogie boarding, palm trees, and a multitude of rentals from 5-star hotels, beach houses (inland, which is cheaper) & beachfront, condos, motels (off=beach is cheaper.

I stayed at Suntide II Condos right on the beach. I like ground floor and walked right out of2-bedroom unit onto the beach for sunrise & sunsets walks. I had a 2 BR, 2 bath fully furnished condo for a special rate of $80/night. I stayed in unit #104. It has a huge heated pool & hot tub, and Tiki Deck that faces the ocean. My patio with outdoor furniture also faced the ocean. South Padre is close to Mexico & the culture is evident in the cuisine and billboards in Spanish. It is known for Spring Break (Iwould avoid this time.), but it’s a great place for families, couples, older adults, singles, or anyone.
