Swat Valley is a mountainous region in Northern Pakistan that is a draw for tourists from around the globe. It is often called the Mini Switzerland of Pakistan, thanks to its stunning snow-capped mountains and lush, green valleys.

Hikes vary from just a few kilometers to 10 or more, so you’ll have lots of variety in choosing how far you wish to venture.
Mahodand Lake is the most well-known lake in the region and offers visitors some incredible photo opportunities. The lake is known for its crystal blue waters, and you’ll find plenty of hiking opportunities in this area as well. Pari Lake has the highest altitude of the lakes in the area, so it provides spectacular views of the lush valley below. The traditional belief is that fairies use this lake for bathing, so be sure to be on the lookout for any mystical creatures!
Stop by Madyam
Madyam is one of the busiest villages along the Swat River, and is worth a visit during your trip. The town provides you with the perfect jumping off point to visit the nearby Chail and Bishigram Lakes. There is also a trout farm in the area, offering visitors a glimpse into a major source of food and jobs in the region. There are many hotels in the area at a variety of price points and levels of luxury, so you are sure to find accommodation that suits your preferences and budget.
The Swat Valley gives you a chance to escape from the hectic pace of some of Pakistan’s major cities, giving you a chance to slow down and reconnect with nature.
