Chiang Kai Shek Memorial

Inside the Chaing Kai Shek Memorial Hall sits a huge statue of Chiang Kai Shek in his chair. The Taiwan flag hangs on each side of the statue while two guards stand motionless to the side. Inscriptions on the walls and below his statue are the Chinese characters for Ethics, Democracy, and Science, which are the “Three Principles of the People.”

Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

Don’t miss this museum dedicated to the life of Sun Yat-sen inside Memorial Hall. Two motionless guards, who change every hour, flank a huge bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen.

National Palace Museum

During the Chinese civil war in 1948, Nationalists moved numerous artifacts and artwork from Beijing to the Palace Museum in Taipei. The collection of about 690,000 ancient Chinese artifacts makes this one of the top five museums in the world.

Taipei 101

For an amazing view of the entire city, visit the observation deck on the 90th floor of the Taipei 101 building.

Beitou Hot Springs

The Hot Springs Museum in Beitou features an old Japanese Bathhouse with tatami rooms upstairs and a Roman-style bath downstairs. It’s surrounded by gardens and overlooks the modern Beitou Library
