Teva Northwater Sandals Review
Price and Where to Buy Teva Northwater Sandals: $35-$80 on Amazon; $80 on Teva.com.
Pros: This shoe is a nearly perfect companion for travel to places where it’s hot but you’re spending a lot of time navigating uneven surfaces. The front of the hybrid sandal protects the toes and the back cradles the heel. The sole has excellent traction and is sturdy enough to take on dirt roads and uneven pavement. And it’s got style.
Cons: The strap has a snap; this is a pro in that it keeps the sandal securely in place, but a con because it can’t be adjusted, so if it’s too tight or too loose for your shape of foot, it may be uncomfortable. And because it’s a fairly minimalist insole, there’s not much in the way of arch support.
How Teva Northwater Sandals Rate:
- Usefulness: 9/10. I put these shoes through a series of tough tests on a trip to Myanmar, where there are a lot of dirt roads and uneven walking surfaces. They aced every one of them, though the snap did mean I needed a bit of extra time to take off and put back on the shoes at temples and pagodas where I needed to be barefoot.
- Value: 8/10. An attractive sport sandal is hard to find, but Teva has found a way with the Northwater, merging practical features with elegant details.
- Durability: 9/10. This sturdy shoe can take on the world and come back to tell the tale.
Final Verdict: I looked at hundreds of sports sandals before discovering the Northwater. My expectations were high, and on a really tough journey the shoes did not disappoint. They offered great performance and always looked good.
