A wonderful church in this town is called the  “Matre de Deo’s Church of Calicut.” It dates back the early Catholics when they first came to the region.

Boat Building Yard at Beypore

Traditional seafaring boats called Dhows are made by master carpenters in the boatyard at Beypore. The craftsmanship is superb and follows the traditional ways that are handed down from master builder to apprentice in training who will then teach the same skills to the following generations.

Stone Memorial for Vasco Da Gama

Kappad (Kappakadavu) is a famous tourist destination in India, where the Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama landed on the Indian mainland. Kappad is a pleasant stretch of rock-studded beach that is around 20 kilometers from the heart of Calicut City.
