Annual Waterfront Festival in Cobourg

One of the most exciting times of the year to visit Cobourg is in the beginning of July, when the Waterfront Festival is held. There are tents set up at the where food and local art are sold, there is a midway with fun rides and vendors selling clothing. In the evening there is a fantastic fireworks display to watch. Anyone arriving by private boat can park in the harbor for the festival weekend. There is truly something for everyone.

Downtown Cobourg

It’s well worth the time to visit the downtown section of Cobourg. The historical town hall on King Street is complete with its own ballroom and courthouse. There are plays to see, an art shop selling modern art and folk-style wood shops. Sometimes there is even live music in the coffee shops.

Enjoying Lake Ontario

The beach is a beautiful place to walk anytime of the year. In the summer, a beach stroll followed by an ice cream is a nice refreshing treat. In the winter, a nice long walk along the beach can end at a local cafe, such as the Human Bean, sipping a yummy hot chocolate.

Dragon Boat Races

Every year there are old-fashioned dragon boat races, which are large and long wooden boats. There are about 30 people in each boat that race while paddling through a course and back. It is highly competitive and fun to witness. Students who participate are awarded community service hours.
