Incheon Things to Do
Incheon is one of South Korea’s primary ports to the rest of the world, with plenty of things to see and do. It is not surprising that things to do in Incheon center around its beaches and shores.
Wolmido Island
Wolmido Island was the central point of the Incheon Invasion during the Korean War. Today, Wolmido is a famous getaway for tourists and South Korea residents. When you visit Wolmido Island, you can go to the amusement park, eat at a sushi restaurant (in fact, fresh fish is a huge draw at Incheon restaurants), or walk along the wide boardwalk. Also, in 1989, “Culture Street” was developed, which brings in thousands of visitors per year.
The Sea and Shorelines
There are many islands surrounding Incheon, not to mention that Incheon itself sits on the Yellow Sea. You can walk along the shorelines of Incheon and see the red-colored scenery at low tide. Incheon has the second biggest tidal differences between low and high tides in the world, and watching the tides change is a dramatic event.
Incheon Landing Memorial Hall
Incheon Landing Memorial Hall is located on the southern edge of Incheon near Songdo Resort. This is a museum, monument, and overlook dedicated to those who died in the Incheon Invasion during the Korean War. The Memorial features the 16 flags of the countries that fought under the United Nations mandate during the war.
Jayu Park
In Jayu Park you can visit the 15-foot tall General MacArthur Monument, look out over the city and the northern beaches, or walk along the scenic paths. Jayu Park was the first park in South Korea built in the Western tradition and also features an aviary and traditional pavilions. A note regarding the General MacArthur Monument – it has recently become a place for anti-American protests and demonstrations.
