Kemah, Texas is a small city, located southeast of Houston. However, don’t let the city’s size fool you, there’s many fun things to do in Kemah, Texas, which runs along west Galveston Bay.

Kemah Boardwalk

This is the main tourist attraction in the city, featuring a variety of rides, such as a 96-foot-tall wooden roller coaster that hits speeds of over 50 miles per hour and has a 92-foot drop. The 65-foot ferris wheel lets you take in the beauty of the Galveston Bay, and you can see different kinds of marine life at the 50,000-gallon aquarium. After working up an appetite, stop by one of the restaurants that offer a beautiful view of the water.

There’s no admission fee to get into the boardwalk, but bring cash because you need to pay for rides, food, and attractions. The boardwalk is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. The boardwalk is closed on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day.

Kemah Lighthouse District

Walk through the Kemah Lighthouse District where you’ll find many bars, restaurants, shops, and attractions. With a combination of new and old buildings, this place has a captivating atmosphere.

Kemah Visitors’ Center

Stop by the Kemah Visitors’ Center to find maps, brochures, and other information to help you plan out your trip. The building is an old school that was in use until 1969, and there’s an interesting museum display inside that’s free of charge. This center is open from 9 am to 5 pm on Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
