Museums
Midland, Texas has a number of notable museums. The Fire Museum, Historical Museum, Haley History Center, Permian Basin Petroleum Museum, Children’s Museum, and Blakemore Planetarium are just a few of the worthwhile places to visit.
Famous Homes
Regardless of your political leanings, the George W. Bush Home is an interesting stop. In 1950, home from the war, future President George H. W. Bush, his wife Barbara, and their two sons, George and Jeb settled in Midland. Today, the house is a museum and is open for tours everyday, but Monday. MIdland’s oldest home, the Brown-Dorsey House, is also open to the public. Built in 1899, the home was recently restored. The house displays furniture and decor common for the time in which it was built. It’s a great place for tourists to get a glimpse of Midland’s meager beginnings.
Midland Rockhounds
Midland is home to the Rockhounds, the AA affiliate of the Oakland A’s Major League baseball team. For a lot less than an MLB game, you can cheer on some of the best players in the country. The season runs from April to August and the schedule can be found online.
