Kempty Falls

Located 15 kilometers from Mussoorie, Kempty Falls represents the area’s most popular attraction. Set on hilly terrains, the falling waters split into five cascades, offering a beautiful sight. The name Kempty is derived from the phrase ‘Camp-tea’, as the British used to organize tea parties at this location. The area has been built up with overlooks and accommodations to allow for convenient sight-seeing.

The Mall

As the main commercial area of Mussoorie, you’ll find numerous hotels, cafe, shopping plazas, and restaurants at The Mall. If you plan to walk the entire Mall, wear comfortable shoes. From its starting point at Library Point to its culmination at the Picture Palace, The Mall stretches about two kilometers. Be sure to visit the Central Methodist Church at Kulri. Established in 1885, the stone structure is an oasis of peace amidst the sounds, sights, and smells of the crowded shopping area.

Cable Car Views of the Himalayas

From about half way along The Mall you can take a cable car to the top of the ridgeline for views of the Himalayas. At the upper Cable Car station, there is a courtyard with small shops and attractions. Walk down onto the lane behind this rea for the most stunning views of the mountains.

The Doon Valley

As you stroll along the Mall you cannot help but notice the Doon Valley below. One of the best times to view The Doon Valley is at nightfall. As the sun sets, the valley lights up. If you watch, you’ll see first one small light appears, then another, then another, all from the homes and buildings below.
