Riverfront Murals
Around the city there are flood walls in order to help divert water in the event of extreme flooding. The walls facing the city are painted with extensive murals. Some of the murals depict famous events in American history. Others are basic works of art derived from the mind of the artist. Either way, it is essentially an open air art exhibit to take in.
Whitehaven Mansion in Paducah
The mansion itself is located right on I-24. it features similar architectural styles to the White House. A portion of the building is used as a museum and a welcome center for visitors to the city. You can also learn about the town history from a small Paducah historical musem as well. Alben Barkley, Harry Truman’s VP, was from Paducah so there is a large amount of information about his life and political career.
Noble Park
When walking through Noble Park you’ll feel as if you’re in a New England area town. With the peaceful streams and large trees throughout, it is remisicent of towns from the upper northeastern United States you have seen in the movies. One of the most enjoyable activities for both adults and children in Noble Park is to feed the ducks and geese.
Market House Theatre
The Market House Theater is home to local productions featuring local performers. The historical building is unique in the city and is a great spot to take in Paducah culture. When shows are not taking place on stage there are classes offered to children in the community. So, if you are moving to Paducah and your little one is interested in acting, they can take advantage of the classes ffered thorugh the theatre.
Market House Museum
This history museum goes into a bit more detail about Paducah’s history than the Whitehaven Mansion does. It also shows off the very first motorized fire truck the city owned. Additionally, the first drugstore to open up in town is located within the museum. This way, you can walk in and see exactly what it would have been like to shop in th drug store 150 years ago.
