This small island is ringed with tidal flats and beaches. Head to the coast for a day at the beach and the intertidal flats then explore the interior of the island on foot.

Chek Jawa Intertidal Flats

One of the richest ecosystems in the world, this is where six different habitats meet. In order to head out to the flats, you need to hire a guide who will show you the life that exists when the tide recedes. Look for the Blue-Spotted Mud Skipper, Fiddler Crab and Mud Lobster. There’s also a coastal boardwalk and a mangrove boardwalk you can explore on your own.

Noordin and Mamam Beach 

Get close to the water at these two beaches. You can enjoy the warm waters and then relax by camping at night on Noordin Beach to watch the sunset. Mamam Beach as a series of well kept sandy areas that make the perfect place for a picnic.

Hike to Bukit Puaka

The tallest point on the island, Burkit Puaka offers view across the entire area. There’s a trail with four stations that offer varied views. Bring good shoes as it is very steep.

Go Biking 

Rent a bike and tour the island on your own. You’ll find many biking paths that allow you to see the island. Look for animals along the way such as the wild boar. There’s also tropical flora to check out including the Fish Tail palm and Star Fruit tree.
