Narrow Paths and Steep Cliffs

Corniglia is filled with hiking opportunities for those who have serious wanderlust, but beware of the slippery paths. If you plan to explore between the villages on the Cinque Terre, note that the paths are along a steep cliff, and they are pretty narrow. Many walkers carry large sticks to assist them in keeping their balance. In addition, sturdy shoes are a must for this adventure. Stay safe by taking it slowly and being aware of your surroundings.

Many Steps

Once you arrive at the station, you will find that Corniglia village is located high on the hill above. To reach it, you can either take an indirect route via one of the little green diesel buses, or you can take the direct route up the Lardarina, which is a long flight of brick steps.

Be aware that there are just under 400 steps in the Lardarina. Though the views are impressive along this route, many tourists find they need to pause along the way to catch their breath.

Sporadic Bus Schedule

Should you choose to rely on the bus from the train station to the village center, be forewarned that its schedule can be unreliable. Once you reach the village, you can check on the current frequency of the bus by looking at a hand-written sign posted by the notice board.
