Always inspect your room for peep holes upon checking in. These holes are used by employees to spy in on you and catch you in various states of undress. They are most common in the bathroom, but can be anywhere. If you find one in your room, talk to management immediately.

Do Not Drink the Water

Do not to drink the water out of the tap. This is especially difficult when you’re brushing your teeth, because old habits die hard. But you may come to regret it if you forget. Bottled water is widely available at stores around the city.

Carry Only Small Bills or Coins

You do not want to walk around this town with large bill. It is unsafe. Fortunately, there are ATMs everywhere, so you don’t have to carry much on hand with you as you can get more cash easily. However, try to keep small bills and coins with you. You will need them to use the bathroom, tip people and purchase bottles of water.

Street Vendors

Street vendors are everywhere in Cusco and they can be pushy. If you are not interested, simply say no gracias and walk away. Try to avoid making eye contact or talking with them.
