Don’t Linger

Don’t loiter or linger outside of the Turkish Army base. It is a bad idea to be on this road at all after the sun goes down and never take pictures when you are there.

Be Prepared for Hot Weather

The hike and sightseeing tour around the ruins can take almost three hours in some instances. It can also get very hot, so be sure to pack some extra water and food to prepare for this. Also, there is not a lot of shade, so you should bring sunscreen as well. There are no concession stands in the ruins which means you can’t even buy water if you want.

Don’t Be Late

Get to the ruins as early as possible. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that it gets very hot and this is the coolest time of the day to tour the ruins. It is also the best way to avoid having to deal with huge crowds of people touring the area. The biggest crowds usually start showing up at the entrance at around 9:30 am. Your best bet is to get there by 8 am.
