Tips on Loreto Warnings and Dangers – Stay Safe!

Loreto Warnings and Dangers

Home to dolphins, pelicans, whales and colonial edifices, Loreto is a colorful city. However, your vacation in Loreto will fare better if you direct your attention toward a few warnings.

Swimming

Loreto Bay contains a number of tiny stingrays. Even though they look rather adorable, these stingrays are unfriendly and harmful. In fact, they are more aggressive than their larger relatives found in Stingray City in the Cayman Islands. Even though these little stingrays are less treacherous than the larger stingrays, you will feel a great deal of pain if you get stung. When you get a sting, it feels as though someone has put a nail in your leg.

Although the sting will not cause you to have a terrible disease, you will experience your fair share of pain for several days. Keep a bottle of white distilled vinegar with you at all times for emergencies. Nevertheless, you will still need to see a doctor if a stingray manages to sting your flesh. The best remedy is to avoid swimming or walking in Loreto Bay.

Mosquitos

If you happen to vacation in Loreto during, or right after, a hurricane hits the area, expect the arrival of numerous mosquitoes. These tiny insects are capable of giving you a serious negative reaction. Carry a strong insect repellent with you at all times. You need to take precautions during daylight hours and in the evenings. Note that some tourists have contracted dengue fever which, even in its milder form, can cause a rash, fever and painful joints.
