Tips on Pulau Langkawi Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Pulau Langkawi Warnings and Dangers

With unique dangers and problems in Pulau, you need to educate yourself before going over. Here are a few of the best warnings from travelers who have already visited.

Watch Out for Monkeys

Who doesn’t love seeing monkeys just hanging out by the hotels? These animals are fun, but they can also be mischievous, and they’re known for taking anything not nailed down and disappearing with the items. This includes your keys, purse, water, or just about anything else. Make sure you are on the look out and careful when around these creatures because these little guys are by far the worst pickpockets in the city.

Jellyfish

If you’ve ever been stung by a jellyfish you know how brutal the sting can be. You’ll end up with a scar and a terrible burning sensation. Be mindful of where you are in the water and know whether or not jellyfish are “in season.”

Rip Tides

Rip tides are a dangerous problem. These tides can instantly drag you underwater and many go for miles. If you ever find yourself in a rip tide don’t try to swim against it. Swim to either side. This will help you exit the rip tide sooner. If there are warnings on a given beach about rip tides, make sure to pay attention.

Understand the Car Insurance

If you rent a vehicle, make sure you know what the car insurance is like. Some locations will tell you that car insurance is provided, but then not tell you that the only coverage is on the vehicle. This means that if you run into someone else, cause damage, or hurt someone, you’ll be forced to pay. If this is the case, you can either go for the full-coverage insurance or you can contact your credit card company ahead of time and find out what kind of rental insurance it provides.

Sea is Dirty

The sea can be polluted with trash. It isn’t industrial so you don’t need to worry about that, but the water can be very dirty. Keep this in mind when going out for a swim (also, don’t swallow the water).
