Valletta Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Valletta Shopping

Visiting the Malta city of Valletta, but curious about where to shop and what to buy? Here are a few insider tips for you to keep in mind while taking in the city of Valletta.

CISK

Are you a fan of beer, or maybe just of checking out the local food and drink scene? If so, you will want to purchase CISK. This is the one and only beer produced locally, with local water and other regionally sourced material. You can find it on the menu at many restaurants and it isn’t a bad purchase from grocery stores in the area either.

Camilleri and Sons

When a shop has been around since the 1840s, it’s usually doing something right. Camilleri and Sons is a chocolate and baked-goods shop, so stop by if you have a sweet tooth or just want to check out the Malta staple. You can also purchase alcoholic beverages here as well. Those working in the shop are especially helpful, so if you’re wondering what to pair together or maybe what might last for the flight back home, they can help you out.

Freedom Square

This can be found inside Valletta’s main gate. As the name suggests, the square is essentially a large, walled-in portion of the city. Events and other activities often take place in the middle of the square, but along the sides are all sorts of different small shops. Yes, you can find the traditional souvenir shop in this area, but there is so much more than this. Feel free to just kind of wander around or take a break and grab food at one of the delicious food stands.

Mdina Glass

If you’re interested in purchasing glass products made in Malta, this is more or less the only location you should purchase. Everything is originally produced and gives you a fantastic item to return home with. Inside the Crafts Village in Ta’ Qali you can watch the glass molded. Nothing like buying a piece of glass you watched an artist forge and craft right in front of your eyes.

Embassy Shopping Complex

Whether you want to catch a movie, enjoy the large food court, or stop by one of the many different shops, this is one of the newer shopping areas in Malta.
