Virgin America’s latest promotional video runs almost six hours. And in all that time, there’s nary a glimpse of Virgin America.
The video, which runs a crushing 5 hours and 46 minutes, is a pseudo-documentary, capturing in real time Blah Airlines flight 101 from Newark to San Francisco.
The featured actors are wide-eyed, gape-mouthed dummies, depicted in a range of all-too-familiar flying postures…
Staring vacantly at the mind-numbingly banal inflight movie, shown on a single monitor at the front of the cabin.
Suffering mutely the rage and frustration incited by a mouthy child and an intrusive seatmate.
Enduring stoically the weirdly inappropriate announcement from the cockpit.
All backstopped by the incessant whine of jet engines.
By the final scene, you expect the main dummy-character’s head to explode.
The flight attendant’s landing announcement comes as a relief: “We told you we would get you there, so you are there now. And that’s it… you can get off the plane now.”
Not a moment too soon.
