Aries

"Aries enjoys discovery and action. Aries is the innovator leader, the one in front who's drawn to new adventures and wants to be the first to do them," said Woolfolk. "For an Aries, the experience of travel is heightened if that person is traveling to a place he or she has not been to before." Further, Aires, a fire sign, has an aversion to routine and might get bored in a destination where there isn't a lot of stimulation.

Recommended Trips: Skydiving, rock climbing, trekking through Nepal, going on a photo safari in Africa, mountain biking in the Rockies.

Taurus

According to Woolfolk, "Taurus is an earth sign. He or she likes stability, comfort, and security. A Taurus would like to be in a place he or she considers 'homelike,' yet still seems like an escape. And Taurus especially loves good food and drink." Woolfolk told us that a holiday to a place known for good food and beautiful scenery would be ideal for a Taurus. But the bull would be less comfortable with a trip that requires extreme physical exertion, such as a challenging mountain trek.

Recommended Trips: Riding the Orient-Express through Asia, taking a peaceful getaway to an inn in the country, renting a vacation villa in Tuscany.

Gemini

Woolfolk explained that Geminis tend to have a variety of hobbies and interests—they're often multitaskers—and love to learn. Basically, they're activity seekers. "Any destination that offers people and a sense of activity is perfect for a Gemini, which is an air sign. But Geminis don't want to be too confined by other people's rules. Structure is not good for a Gemini." So package tours are out, and engaging, captivating destinations are in.

Recommended Trips: Visiting a big city with lively nightlife such as Paris or New York, going museum-hopping, taking a spontaneous weekend getaway, going to the New Orleans Jazz Fest.

Cancer

"Cancer craves being near the water," said Woolfolk. A water sign, Cancer enjoys a sense of community and spending time with loved ones, as well as beautiful and cultural destinations. Woolfolk also revealed that "Cancer is the kind of traveler who would like to unpack just once on a trip, so a cruise with family where all the amenities are taken care of would be ideal." According to Woolfolk, since Cancer craves serenity and wants to avoid situations that are frenetic, a smaller ship might be best.

Recommended Trips: Staying in a lakeside cabin in Canada, taking a small-ship Mediterranean cruise with family, booking a room with a water view at a luxury hotel, renting a canal-side apartment in Venice.

Leo

"A people person, Leo likes to be the center of attention. Leo is a fire sign. So he or she has lots of energy," said Woolfolk. "Leo is born to be a star and is drawn to a glamorous life." According to Woolfolk, Leos seek bigger, grander destinations and love traveling first class. A Leo probably wouldn't enjoy going on a trip where he or she would have to scrimp and save.

Recommended Trips: Traveling to the French Riviera, staying in a luxury hotel, going to an international film festival, visiting spas and vineyards in California Wine Country.

Virgo

Virgo, an earth sign, likes security and order. Woolfolk told us that Virgos are highly intellectual and seek structured environments, as well as practical knowledge. "Something that can spark Virgo intellectually and make that person feel that he or she is accomplishing something (such as learning about history or mastering a new language) would work for a Virgo," said Woolfolk. Additionally, Virgos enjoy operating on a schedule and like to know what to expect.

Recommended Trips: Going on a literary walking tour in Dublin, taking organized package tours, immersing oneself in foreign culture and learning the local language, taking cooking classes in Japan.

Libra

A Libra shouldn't travel alone. According to Woolfolk, "A Libra would prefer to travel with a new lover, a spouse, or a good friend—someone the Libra cares about and feels comfortable with. Libra is a sharer. But Libra also loves pampering and is drawn to luxury and glamor." Libra is an air sign, and Libras are known to be highly creative and drawn to partnership, romance, and aesthetics. Woolfolk told us that Libras tend to seek out beauty in the world.

Recommended Trips: Staying in an architecturally significant hotel, embarking on a romantic culinary tour of Italy, visiting historical monuments like the Hagia Sophia or the Taj Mahal, going on a couples' spa retreat.

Scorpio

Like Cancer, Scorpio is a water sign, and Scorpios tend to be attracted to places on or near the water, said Woolfolk. Moreover, "Scorpio is not frivolous. He or she is a deep thinker, drawn to history, culture, and knowledge." Woolfolk explained that Scorpios love exploring exotic, less-traveled destinations and enjoy travel that involves learning and cultural immersion. Also, Scorpios don't mind traveling alone, as they tend to enjoy having free time to explore places on their own.

Recommended Trips: Visiting ancient ruins, spending time on a remote South Pacific island, taking a solo trip, exploring museums in Eastern Europe, going on a volunteer vacation in Haiti.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius is a sign of freedom and expansion," said Woolfolk. "Sagittarians need to have a sense of freedom and wide-open spaces, both physically and emotionally, while on a trip. They like adventure. They like to explore." Woolfolk told us that one might even call a Sagittarius a "nature boy or nature girl." But since Sagittarians are averse to structure and rules, they should skip guided tours and trips with rigid itineraries.

Recommended Trips: Taking a bike tour through the British Isles, seeing the wild gorillas in Uganda, camping, visiting national parks, mountain climbing, taking a Galapagos cruise, going on a rainforest trek.

Capricorn

According to Woolfolk, "Capricorn is an earth sign that likes structure. Capricorn is highly focused, a deep thinker, and needs lots of control in his or her life. In travel, therefore, Capricorn would need to be in charge of his or her own schedule." Also, Capricorns can be loners, explained Woolfolk, so they aren't afraid to travel alone. But whether they're alone or with companions, Capricorns will enjoy historical, ancient destinations. Woolfolk told us: "Capricorn is drawn to the past and is fond of history."

Recommended Trips: Visiting historical graveyards, traveling to Egypt, taking an educational cruise, touring old European cities.

Aquarius

Aquarians are highly intellectual and live in their own mind, explained Woolfolk. Aquarius, an air sign, should avoid tourist-trap destinations like big theme parks or crowded cities and instead head to less-traveled places. According to Woolfolk, "An Aquarius loves to learn but also wants to go off the beaten track. He or she tends to be different and can be kind of eccentric. An Aquarius will follow [his or her] own path."

Recommended Trips: Seeing Gaudi's architecture in Barcelona, traveling to exotic countries like Cambodia or Vietnam, staying in a Balinese village.

Pisces

"A water sign, Pisces is the sign of the dreamer," said Woolfolk. "Pisces is the poet, the sensualist, the fantasist. Pisces is looking for a sense of inner peace and seeks to experience the divine." Woolfolk suggests that Pisceans travel to destinations where they can achieve a sense of spirituality. Places that are heavily focused on commercialism, such as shopping destinations or theme parks, wouldn't work as well for a Pisces.

Recommended Trips: Traveling to pilgrimage sites, visiting Stonehenge, going to New Age destinations like Santa Fe or Sedona, staying in an ashram in India, touring old cathedrals.
