AirlineRatings.com has released its annual list of the world’s top ten safest airlines for 2015, and not a single American airline made the cut. On the top? Qantas, followed by Air New Zealand, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines.
The website evaluates airlines on a number of different factors, such as fatalities, incidents, and operational history, to decide which ones get to be named the safest. You can read the entire safety rating criteria here.
This year, AirlineRatings.com also released a list of the top ten safest low cost airlines, which included a few that are closer to home. On that list: Aer Lingus, Alaska Airlines, Icelandair, Jetblue, Jetstar, Kulula.com, Monarch Airlines, Thomas Cook, TUI Fly and Westjet.
The airlines that received the lowest ratings in the study were: Kam Air, Nepal Airlines, Scat and Tara Air.
