Zagreb Shopping Tips
Shop malls, markets and specialty shops in Zagreb.
Avenue Mall
Stylish and sophisticated, Avenue Mall is just the right size to indulge in shopping, entertainment and fine food. Don’t miss the kava (coffee) happy hour at Metropolitan Bar before 12 pm Monday through Friday. The cafe is located left from the main entrance of the mall.
Markets
There is a small but still vibrant open air market on Ilica near Hotel Ilica (at around Ul. Ilica 100) that operates most days. You can find a wide variety of produce items here, although there will be more of whatever is in season when you’re in Zagreb. There are also a few stands that have dried fruits, good for snacks when walking around in the heat.
There are many mega-super markets in town, however, Dolac – an open air farmer’s market – is kind of an institution, especially on the weekends. Get there early for the freshest and most extensive selection of produce. You can get good bargains at the end of the day.
Just a short walk from the main square, Trg bana Jelacic is jam-packed with all sorts of flower vendors.
Hidden Art Galleries
Tkalča is a back street where people go to relax at cafes, meet each other, have a drink, people-watch or just take a walk. There are a few small art galleries and other shops stashed on this street.
Souvenirs
If you’re wondering what to buy as a souvenir but are looking for something that’s not as common as a keyring or a fridge-magnet, consider Croatian natural cosmetics.
At ULOLA you’ll find all-natural soaps, bath salts, body butters and more in scents like orange and cinnamon or goats milk and almond oil.
Shop Elements soaps, gel showers, body butters and more made from seaweed, olive oil, rosemary or lavender.
Go to Brac Fini Sapuni for exotic Aurum Croaticum made from virgin olive oil and thin leafs of 23 carat gold.
